Best friend
Paul Barrington and I served in the Army together. I would like to communicate with anyone who knew him or any of his relatives. We joined the Army in 1964 and went through Airborne training in August. Paul went to Vietnam in 1969 with the 173rd Abn. Bde.

Service together in Vietnam, circumstances of death
Paul was a medic assigned to November Platoon, Charlie Company, 3/503 Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sep). He was originally attached to the rifle platoon in June, 1969 when we were based at Camp Rock, Bao Loc province in the Central Highlands. He accompanied the platoon when it was sent to the coast near Phan Thiet, attached to a tank unit. As the platoon went out on a reconnaissance mission into the coastal mountains in August, 1969, SP4 Barrington was sick and stayed at the base for rest/treatment. Before we even returned from the mission, we learned that he had contracted severe malaria and died within days of diagnosis.
