More family remembrances
Jimmy, as you know, we were second cousins.
I remember the day you died. We were all very
sad. I had kept in touch with your dad, but have
lost touch of your brother John. I'd like to hear
from him if he reads this.

Jimmy, I had been in Nam for a year and a half when I received word that you had received your commission and were on your way too!
One day I received a letter from my father that you had been wounded in combat. I made arrangements with my Commanding Officer to hitch a chopper ride up to your location, so that I could visit with you.
As I was preparing to board the chopper, my CO stopped me, telling me that you had died on the operating table. He also told me that your Platoon had been ambushed and that you had nearly been cut in half by AK-47 fire. It was a miracle that you had made it to the operating table at all.
This is a photo of you and your dad taken on the day that you received your Commission.
Whenever I am at Arlington National Cemetary to visit the rest of our family, I always stop by your grave to say "hello" and tell you how much you are still missed!
Love,
Jay

Think of you often
DJ, I still remember all the fun we had at Duke. And that car you had with the most amazing sound system. We should all have studied more, but that was the 60s.

Reflections of a classmate
Whenever I think of high school, I think of you, Jim, for you were certainly the star football and basketball player, at least in my eyes. Whenever I think of Vietnam, its heroism and tragedy, I also think of you, Jim. On this Memorial Day, in the midst of tears and memories, I honor your sacrifice.
