In Memory of a Friend and Classmate

Jim and I were classmates for two years at Lejeune High School. I was a super-nerd and he was a super-jock, but he was a great guy and we were friends. I came back from Nam, and I wish to all the Gods there are that he had, too. He should be here today and enjoying his grandkids. Test in peace, Jimmy. Always remembered.

Semper fi, brother, from a fellow Devilpup.

Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Quantico, VA

Jimmy, his brother, John, their mom, Jean, and dad, Jim, lived on the Hill in
R Quarters. Jean and Jim were close friends of my mother and father. Johnny played with my youngest sister. Jimmy and I played together and tormented each other daily.

I think of you often Jimmy...good memories. Linda Long (R4)

Camp Lejeune, Duke and TBS

Jim, you Al and I were originators of “The Dukes,” a singing trio trained to my mother’s piano accompaniment heading for college from CLHS. There was never a kinder gesture than calling a last minute pass play to your 4th string receiver at the Quantico game. You’re remembered until my last breath, humor and all.
