Happy Birthday, Doug

Hi, it's me, Sandy. Today would have been your 59th birthday! Wow, for almost 40 years I've missed you every day. Sara had a little boy in June, he's gonna be like you, I see it in his beautiful eyes.

My trip to D.C

My name is Evan Barnitz. I recently went on a school trip to Washington D.C. I was walking down the memorial wall and happened to look up and see the name of Douglas W. Barnitz. I didn't know of any Barnitz family members that had died in the war. I wanted to know more so I googled searched him and found this.

Thank you

A day I'll never forget

I remember running down the stairs one hot day in June. There were men in uniform at our front door. I always tried to act grown up (to impress them-I was 16) when soldiers were at our house to see dad (an officer). Dad was a few steps behind me - It didn't make sense when the soldiers came in without me opening the door or saying a word. Then when they reached dad who at nearly 6'7" had almost collapsed on the floor - did I know why they were at our house. Our lives had forever changed-I'll always miss them both.
