Remembrance

Lee James was the honor graduate at US Army Special Warfare school and served as an adviser in Vietnam. He was killed on Sept 5, 1965 - after saving a woman from a mine field earlier that day he returned to clear the mine field so that no one else would be injured. Lee James left behind his 3 children and his wife, who was 6 months pregnant with their fourth child. He was the ultimate Marine and earned 3 Purple Hearts, the Legion of Merit and the Silver Star for his efforts.

My Father, My Friend, My Hero

USMC GSgt Lee Roy James was my father who proudly served his country in many conflicts around the World until his untimely demise in Vietnam in 1965. Although I was relatively young at that time, my father already had a profound affect on me. His spirit and memory have continued to guide me throughout life and all that I am today I owe to him, my sainted mother, my beloved siblings and my blessed children. Thank you Dad for being my father, my friend and my hero. You have never left my side and I count on you each and every day to help guide me along the right path in life. God Bless You.

For Lee Roy James

Lee James was my father. But Vietnam took him before I ever had a chance to meet him. Amazing how proud you can be of someone you never knew. Thanks Dad, for the ultimate sacrifice.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
