REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR RALFORD JOHN JACKSON

My Marine brother.

I was about six feet away from Ralford when he died. He was in a foxhole with another Marine named Paul Speaks. They were killed by a direct hit on their hole on the morning of May 22, 1969. They both died instantly with no suffering. After many years, I was able to speak with Ralford's precious mother on the phone. It was one of the most emotional conversations I have ever had. The tears streamed down my face as I was able to tell Ralford's mother the circumstances of his death. She had never heard how he died or whether he suffered or not. A few years later, I spoke with his daughter. He was an honorable and brave man who served his country well. Semper Fi and rest in peace, my brother.

Thank You

Dear PFC Ralford Jackson, Thank you for your service a Radio Telegraph Operator. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It's the end of summer and Labor Day is in a few days. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
