Remembering An American Hero
Dear HM3 Curtis Darrell Jackson, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Death of HN3 Jackson
HN3 Jackson was a USN Hospital Corpsman assigned to 3rd Bn., 26th Marines.
He was one of about 18 men KIA in operations around Khe Sanh on 27 June, 1967.
I am not sure if he was killed in the initial attack on Khe Sahn Combat Base shortly after midnight of the 26th, or in operations resulting from an attempt to rescue some Marines from Combined Action Company Oscar who had been ambushed earlier that day during a patrol sent out to locate the enemy positions, but am currently researching the matter.
The entire story and pictures are posted on at cap-oscar.org
If any survivors or family members wish to contact me with more details about him or the other men who were KIA or WIA at this battle, I would be grateful for your help.
