James A. Hunt Remembered Forever

Jim and I were best friends during training in San Diego and Camp Pendelton. We would go to his house on liberty week-ends and raise hell and eat his mom's cooking. His sister's were always polite and kind to me,and his father was nice man. Week-ends at his house were very enjoyable. We got sent to Hawaii together and were M.P.'s at Kenehoe Marine Air Base together. We had a ball there. Jim even got married to local girl and we would go to his house for fun and games. He voluntered to go to Vietnam, while I waited for orders, so we split up and I didn't see Jim again until I came back from Vietnam and found him in Long Beach Naval hospital recuperating from a severe frag wound. We immediately picked up where we left off and he was about to be discharged fro the hospital, we made plans to stay together and get set for the rest of our lives. Then, Jim fell ill and died of complications from his wounds, and I have never been the same. Jim, I will never forget you, and I will never forgive myself for not going with you and safeguarding you like I always did. Please forgive me, and know that I loved you like a brother.
