One of the Heroes of 488

John T Adams was a member of
1st Recon Bn
1st Marine Division.
He started his time in D-Co and later was assigned to C-Co
He lost his life on a Hill assigned the # 488.
Those that lived and died on this hill are among
the most decorated Marines of the Nam war.
Those of us in Recon Bn will never forget
the radio transmissions during the battle of 488.
The 18 Marines fought against odds
sometimes recalled as high as 600.
When ammo ran low - they threw rocks
to simulate grenades to cause the VC to look up
and give the Marines a much needed advantage.
Those of us in Recon Bn will never forget you
as a friend and tears come to our eyes
as we read your name on this wall.
You were and are part of the Marine
Corps finest "1st RECON BN"
