Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died at 18 years of age. I am 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Don and I lived on the same street, Malta St. in Fort Worth, TX. He was a few years older than me. He always said he wanted to be a Marine “and see the world.” He had a dog named Tricia, whom he loved. He was a great friend!

This is his boot camp photo from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Platoon 3048. He earned the title “U.S. Marine” on August 26, 1966.

Dear PFC Don Hollingsworth, Thank you for you service as a Rifleman. I researched you on your 71st birthday, happy birthday. This week is Independence Day, and there is no better time to honor you. Please watch over the USA, it still needs your strength. Rest in peace with the angels.
