School mates

Bob and I went to school together at CCS. He left school and he and his brother, Wayne joined the Army. I remember one time a group of us were fishing up in Perryville and Bob and Wayne were rock climbing up Perryville falls, this way before rock climbing was ever a thing’. They made it up to the top and we’re they tired we stopped a while, and chatted, not knowing that was the last time we would talk to Bob, I talked to him today at Laural Hill Cemetery in Oddessa, NY. Again RIP Bob, your mom and dad are close by. Thank you for all you did as you gave all you had.

My Buddy "Cav"

We called him "Cav" because his first tour in V.N. was with the First Cavalry Division. He was in my platoon in Bravo Co. 2/18 infantry. We were good buddies. We were out in the field and he and a group had been on an ambush and were heading back to our perimeter when a booby-trap mine was triggered. Cav was hit along with John Ruiz his radioman who was also killed. I quite often think of Robert. I remember one night when he was on an ambush that got overrun and he managed to save two wounded guys by getting them to safety and spending the night out there until we were able to find them. He was a good guy. He was a good soldier. So was Ruiz and a lot of other young men that died for nothing. I loved those guys and proud to have served with them.

Sgt. Bob, 11Bravo
