My Big Brother's Best Friend
We still have letters Gary wrote and some photos he sent from Vietnam. He lived at our home. He and my brother Randy Ward turned our garage into their bachelor pad. My mom treated him as her own. He was such a gentleman and so polite. I was younger and remember when he was killed. The sadness never left my brother's heart.

Private First Class Gary Lee Hobbs was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, with Combat Distinguishing Device (V), for his exemplary gallantry in action. He served as an Infantryman and was assigned to A TRP, 3RD SQDN, 4TH CAVALRY, 25TH INF DIV.
