My Great Uncle Gary

Gary was my grandma's brother. I never met him but I feel such a close connection with him. I see much of my self in him. But I do know much about him. He was an amazing artist and my grandma still has many of his drawings. When he was growing up and his step father would beat his mother he would always jump in and protect her as a young child. He was only weeks away from coming home when he was killed. He stepped on a buried bomb. Last month I found a letter he wrote to his mother shortly before he wed killed. I could not belive the connection I felt with him. I felt like he was my own
brother. I might not have known him but I can honestly say that I love my Uncle Gary.
