OUR HOMETOWN HERO AND FRIEND

HIS MANY FRIENDS AS WELL AS MYSELF, KNEW HIM AS "BUTCH". HE WAS A FRIENDLY YOUNG MAN AND WELL LIKED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. EVEN THOUGH I WAS AN UPPERCLASSMAN, I REMEMBER HIM WELL. HE HAD GREAT POTENTIAL AND SADLY HE DID NOT LIVE TO FULFILL HIS OWN DREAMS AND GOALS IN LIFE. I'M SURE ALL OF HIS FRIENDS MISS HIM BUT WE ALL HONOR HIS MEMORY AND GREAT SACRIFICE. HE WAS A GOOD SOLDIER AND A GREAT MARINE. OF THIS I AM SURE. THE LORD CALLED HIM HOME ON THAT FATEFUL DAY AND I AM SURE THAT HE IS ASLEEP IN THE ARMS OF THE LORD. IN HIS MEMORY I WROTE THESE WORDS......MSG JOE DAVILA, TXSG HGT 39TH BRIGADE LUBBOCK, TEXAS. 4/29/00
