My Friend and Hero
I want to state my fondest remembrance of Ronald carried with me for 52 years. In Ronald's Senior year I was a Freshman. We both played fullback and linebacker. Ronald of course on the varsity and was chosen All District in 1963 & 1964, while I was on the lowly Freshman team. Ronald was constantly pulling me aside in practice giving me private instructions and teaching me how to play the positions. He was my mentor. I never got the chance to tell him properly "Thanks Ronald". I had moved on to another school and he had joined the service after graduation. I never had any other coaching on how to play the positions in school by anyone else and I was chosen All District in both positions in 1967. I have always owed this honor to Ronald.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Ronald Neil Bankston, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter
