He was my Brother

My Brother Leo Hester volunteered for the Navy in the year 1941. This was the year I was born. As a child growing up I remember listening to my Mother reading Leo's letters for all of us to hear. Also there were those wonderful times he was able to visit us.

Leo and his family were stationed in Coronado, Calif. for awhile. This was a short distance from us. We enjoyed the visits.

There were many good times spent with Leo and his family through the years. I cherish each moment. Love your Sister Margaret

His Granddaughter

I was curious to look up my Uncle and Grandfather. Both killed in Vietnam. I was overcome with emotion when I see the post here. These men both Leo Claude Hester and Leo Jr. are from my mothers side. Leo Senior is my mothers father.

Please if you have any memories, pictures, questions, please email me and [email protected] I will forward all messages to my mother. She will be overjoyed when I send her to this site.

Again we thank you for these moments and words.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCDR Leo Claude Hester, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

If I should die...remembrances for LCDR Leo Claude HESTER, USN...who made the ultimate sacridfice!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.
