hello john, i have your letters from somewhere in vietnam. you were my father's best friend and he was a fellow photographer. although i was a toddler when you died, i want you to know that you are revered, and i think of you now and again and read your letters and know that you loved me. i wish i knew your family and could learn more about you but i know the most important, and that is, that you were pure and brave and loyal and loving, for when i read your letters i always feel it and so much more...rest in peace and know that 40 years later i have not and will not forget you.
