Bronze Star with Combat V for valor
The marine corps didn't give out rank, you had to earn it.
A 19 y/o corporal with almost 11 months in country, shows that Philip did his job very well.

honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your sister Colette is especially poignant. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever....

Duty and Honor
I graduated from NCHS in 1985 but did not know of Philip until his sister and my brother married. Thinking of the Bancroft family and their loss of Philip 49 years ago today.
I know of the duty to country that may have motivated Philip so many years ago and am proud of our nephew's same sense of duty. He graduated from US Army cavalry scout training this week. Although they never met, our nephew honors Philips choice to serve our country during a time of war by making the same choice himself. It seems that selflessness is a Bancroft family value.

Glad to attend Kevin Dziubek's graduation from US Army Cavalry Scout training this week. Kevin is Philips nephew and mine as well. Thinking of Philip's mom, dad and siblings today.
