Fairfax High School
Michael Balzer was a quiet fellow, very shy, but he was always kind to me, a newcomer from California, a stranger in a new school. He was the first person I knew who had gone to Viet Nam, and the first to die there. Although he was very much a loner in high school and we were not close friends, I have never forgotten his kindness to me in my first year at Fairfax High School.
