Thank You

Dear PFC Vernon Henke,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 72nd birthday just passed, happy birthday. It's Mother's Day. The war was years ago, but we all need to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in Peace with the angels.

Remembering Vernon Henke of Wisconsin

It seems that I'm more sentimental than I thought. I'm posting another remembrance to another young man who died in Vietnam. I seem to have a peculiar fetish (if you want to call it that) with remembering the deceased. Like the other men (AND WOMEN) who went over to Vietnam and did not come back, I want to assure family, friends and others of Private Henke that he will NEVER be forgotten. I do say a lot of the same things on these memorial sites. I'll end this by thanking Vernon Henke for his service and his sacrifice.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Vernon Lee Henke, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
