Brothers in Spirit
Tom,
I never knew you. However, somewhere along the line we must be related as there are few Heise's. I was dismayed to find your name on the wall. I wish I had, had the opportunity to meet you. For your great sacrifice, in the service of our country, I humbly thank you and respectfully salute you. I want you to know that, in part, because of your dedication and committment in that far away land of Vietnam we ultimately won the Cold War and continue to enjoy the freedoms that we hold so dear. God Bless!
I was suprised to find you were also a Marine. However, in retrospect I should not be, as my family has been Marine Corps since the Civil War. Perhaps a similar tradition resides within yours. I was in the Corps from 1965 to 1968 and in Vietnam 5/66 to 6/67. So, I preceeded you and as a result, although I never knew you in life, there is a true kinship, a certain brotherhood between us that even transcends the Esprit de Corps of the Marine Corps, that we, and all brother and sister Marines, share. I promise I will now keep you in my daily prayers.
Semper Fi Brother! Keep guarding the streets of heaven. If I ever make it there, I'll look you up.
Forever Young, Forever Faithful, Never Forgotten

Semper FI, My Brother
After all these years, I can still see you next to me that night you died. How I survived that grenade and you didn't , I'll never know.
I will keep your memory alive in my heart and never forget you. We were brothers in arms, we were Marines!!!!
