Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Honoring A Friend-

My memories of Carol dates back to the early 1960"s, while we were high school school mates. Carol was one of my few friends that I really enjoyed knowing. Unfortunatly, I never really got to know him that well (away from school), but our time together has become very rememberal to me over these long years.
I best remember Carol as being extremly shy, very quiet in nature and hell-of-a-nice guy. you couldn't but help to like Carol. He had a real suttle sense of humor.
Together Carol and I use to give my girlfriend (who become my wife after high school) a bad time with our clowning.
I learned of Carol's death a little while after, by a news-clipping I was sent by my mother-in-law. My heart was filled with great sorrow upon learning this news. I've remembered Carol for all these YEARS on a regular basis. I sure would have liked to have known him better.
The newspaper clippings of Carol's death reported Carol was killed by a sniper while on patrol- shot in neck..

Carol, my friend, I will never forget you, and will always honor your memory and the fact that you had given your life to protect me, and my love-one, as well, as given your-all for our GREAT country.

MAY GOD ALWAYS BE WITH YOU MY FRIEND!
