MIKE BALL-MY FRIEND

MIKE WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND - WE HAD A PARTY FOR HIM THE NIGHT HE LEFT FOR NAM-IT WAS RAINING AND HIS FEET GOT WET SO HE TOOK OFF HIS SHOES AND UNKNOWINGLY LEFT A BIG FOOT PRINT IN THE OAK FLOOR OF MY (NOW) WIFE'S HOUSE- THE PRINT FADED AND SO DID MY MIND WHEN TALMADGE CARTER CAME OVER TO MY HOUSE AND INFORMED ME THAT MIKE WAS DEAD-IT WAS JUST THREE MONTHS AGO THAT MIKE AND I WERE HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME TOGETHER- NOW IN APRIL --HE'S GONE!
