REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR FRANK HOUSTON ADAMS

Translation of Remembrance posted on 10/01/2013.

Captain Adams - I went through Boot Camp and A.I.T. with Michael Mennone. In Country, Michael was assigned to your Company and I was assigned to 1/1. A friend of mine translated the Remembrance that was posted on 10/01/2013: "I am Amerigo, brother of Marine Michael G. Mennone killed in Vietnam in 1969 {June 27, 1969}. At that time my parents had the desire to know how Michael had died and if he said anything in his last moments. On that occasion Captain Adams, who was commander of Golf Company 2nd Battalion 1st Marines and the commander of the unit where my brother Michael was, wrote two letters which comforted my parents, one dated September 20, 1969, and the other dated October 10, 1969. I have read that the Captain had a daughter and I would like to contact her. Of course I would love to contact anyone who had befriended my brother, Michael, both during the period of Vietnam and in the period in the USA, even though my knowledge of the American language is limited. Thank you, Amerigo."

Remembering An American Hero

Dear Captain Frank Houston Adams, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
