IN REMEMBRANCE OF A FRIEND

I can still picture you playing baseball and swimming in Gillis Creek. I recall with heartfelt sorrow the day they came to tell your folks you had perished in combat. My decision to become a Marine was the direct result of being inspired by you when you returned from Parris Island, tall, proud, and motivated. I hope I will see you again one day and tell you how much you were missed by all of your friends.
