Jack and I were classmates

Jack and I went to Morris Grade School together on the Briscoe road and also Buchanan High at Troy. We have stayed at each others house. He came from a great family and I have many fond memories of when we were kids. I remember his sister Starr Ann, and brother Charles. We all used to ride the school bus together to Troy. I joined the Air Force in 56, and was in the Phillipines and Thailand when Jack was shot down. It was a sad day when I heard about it. I know he is missed. Jim

My Great-Uncle

My Uncle Jack (his nickname) of course died long before I was born in 1986. But as I grew up, I heard many stories about him and always felt close to him in a way. I recently had to study Vietnam for my highschool History class and asked my grandmother to take in a picture and a few things about Uncle Jack. Not only did he earn me extra-credit, I also was able to feel a LOT closer while I studied the event. I had an actual relative, someone I shared blood with died in the Vietnam war... He gave his life with so many others to help the future Americans... Thank you so much Uncle Jack, I never knew you, but through your sister Starr (Nana to me) and so many other relatives, I feel extremely close to you. Thank you.

I have wondered about Captain John Charles Hardy for the past 30 years, and am glad I was finally able to discover what happened to him.

Thoughts of a best friend.

I was the best man in John's wedding. He was a devoted family man and is greatly missed. He was shot down on Good Friday and his body was recovered on Easter Sunday. May GOD bless him and his family. Alton Sissell
