The long hair Hippie.

Mike was one of my best troops. He helped me improve the morale of my platoon by making people smile. His warm character is one trait that inspired us all. I will never forget the time he played Santa Clause by covering his face and head with a full can of shaving cream, grabbing a dirty mail bag and filling it with "C" rations that no one liked. He would slide down the command hatch of the commanders APC, give him a can of ham and lima beans and wait for his free ticket for the "freedom bird" to fly him home to America. The day that we were ambushed by the NVA will always be in my mind for I lost a great trooper, a true comrade. He looked up to me like a father to take him out of this war torn country. I feel sorry that I could not live up to his expectations but his actions saved many lives on the battlefield.
