Ground Casualty
SP5 John L. Hall was a Food Service Specialist serving with C Company, 124th Signal Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. In the fall of 1966, Hall was assigned to Camp Enari, the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division. The base was located near Dragon Mountain (Nui Ham Rong) and National Route QL-19, 12 kilometers (7.2 miles) southeast of Pleiku city in Pleiku Province, RVN. At 11:30 AM on October 7th, Hall went on sick call and was admitted to the 4th Medical Dispensary for severe headaches. While being treated by a doctor, he lost consciousness and expired shortly after. Postmortem studies determined Hall died from a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain aneurysm). Brain aneurysms can occur in anyone and at any age and are most common in adults between the ages of 30 and 60; however, the incidence of aneurysm rupture in patients younger than 40 years is 10–20% of all patients. Hall was 22 years old. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org; obituary publication and date unknown]
