Thank You
Dear Captain John Hale,
Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot. The war was years ago, but we all need to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I remember John walking past me as we fell in line, point man. Eager to prove
himself though he was new to the outfit. He and Lt. Melonson were lost a
short time later. They were carried back to a makeshift LZ with the utmost
care and respect. I saw the Chaplain from a distance delivering last rights
beneath the wind of the chopper blades. This memory lives in me to this day.
His father wrote a letter of concern, which I helped compose a response to.
My signature is on that letter. I hope this remembrance brings comfort to his
family and does not cause upset in any way. I have become friends with
Bill Ellis. He and I offer prayers to his family then and now.
