Thank You

Dear Sp4 Maurice Haas,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. The war was years ago, but we all need to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembrance by the fellow soldier who brought him home ...

I was the sergeant assigned to bring back Maurice from Oakland to his hometime and the burial site. 50 years ago but I still often remember the somber and sad event. I recall how impressed I was that so many people came to show their respects . Not only family members but many people from the surrounding towns. We. from America's small towns - especially farming communities seem to have sacrificed lives in much greater numbers. I suppose because we were of such strong stock.. I never actually met you Maurice, but hope I escorted you with respect and dignity... May God Bless..
