My father taught at North Georgia College with Richard's father. Richard's parents were my godparents. Richard stopped by to visit our family before he shipped out. It was the last time we saw him.

Dear Lt Richard Gwinn,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Commander. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

1Lt Gwinn was A great officer
I was standing directly behind Lt Gwinn the day he was killed. I had a great amount of respect for him. The point man, CPL Ream was killed just a few minutes before Lt Gwinn. This was a very dark day as we lost two great men. I was proud to be a member of his platoon.
