I still miss my friend
Bob and I were best friends in Jr. and Sr. Hi school. We walked to and from school together. We were as close as brothers. In Jr Hi we were team mates on the football, basketball and track teams all three years. In Hi Sch our educational tracks separated us but we still remained very close. After Hi Sch. I got married and then drafted into the Marine Corp. Bob attended Wittenberg Unvi. for several months then choose to enter the Army. We were serving in Vietnam at the same time keeping in touch by letters . The letters stopped in November. I did not learn of Bob's death until I returned in December. I still visit his grave site and wonder what the world has missed without him. I do not know of any local remaining family members but he shall always have a place in my heart. God Bless Bob

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Robert Louis Gunther, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
