Bobby
The photo I submitted is of Bobby and his girlfriend. He gave it to me a few days before I was Medevac out. He was a close friend. He took over the tanker truck that I drove. I learned of his death while I was at Camp Lejeune. I was very sadden to about it. I lost not only a Marine but a good friend.

Your Memory lives on Bobby
My brother, Tom Grubb was also with Bobby in the Marines. On his 21st birthday, Tom came home and late that night, after spending the night on the town in celebration, he finally told me about Bobby, his good friend, and the terrible way he died. My brother is 69 now and still talks about Bobby and has told my grandchildren wonderful 'Bobby' stories, that include the chocolate milk that he loved.
The pain in his heart and the horrible scene of Bobby's truck on fire have not left his memory but Bobby live on in all of us that he shares the memories with. Bobby only had 20 something days to go before he was getting out. My brother said that they never had a 'shotgun' rider, but that morning 'they' must have known something was up because the had them pull ;over and pick up a "grunt" and Bobby's was this black boy. He said " I doubt that Bobby even knew who he was before that." That boy died that day in the fire, but Bobby lived 2 or three days before he died. " Prayers for all of our service men and women that serve our country and may the memories of their lives always be with us.

That fateful day
I was in the vehicle directly behind Bobbie Gene's truck on that fateful day on the road from LZ Baldy to LZ Ross. Rest in peace, my Marine brother.
