honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrances from LaVerne Anderson and Deborah Uhl Colatrella are especially poignant and harken back to a time when we had our whole lives ahead of us. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

Back to Basic
Jan,
I remember you fondly. We were in basic training together at Ft. Dix in January-March, 1966. I lucked out and went to Germany, you to Vietnam. I am so sorry that we lost you. I will touch your name every time I am in DC at The Wall.
God bless you and SMAJ Arcadio Torres, also a veteran lost in Vietnam and one of our platoon Sargents in basic.

Thank You
Dear PFC Jan Grabowski,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Puppy Love
Jan, darling, I was only 13 yrs of age when we moved to Jamesburg and the first person I met was you. It was instant for me, love at 1st sight. I use to leave my lipstick mark on your back bedroom window just to show you I loved you but you probably never knew it was me. You called me Larry and only thought of me as a tomboy never knowing how much I loved you and loved you right up until I heard you'd been killed, I remember your voice and your sad brown eyes and you always tooling around on your neat bike, I loved everything about you and hoped one day when you got older and I got older you'd love me too and , maybe, even marry me. Now I'd 67 yrs old and still miss you. I visit your grave sight every year and even have been to the wall in Holmdel and left you flowers. I hope you see me at your grave sight in Jamesburg and realize how deeply I did love you even then as a kid. I wish you were still here. All my love, always and forever, LaVerne Anderson alas Larry.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Jan Joseph Grabowski Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
