THE WALL OF FACES

Joel Humberto González Vélez was the son of Crescenciano González and María Josefa Vélez from San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. He was drafted to the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He started his military tour on October 10, 1967 during the Vietnam War in Company B, 1st Battallion, 26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army. He was a Private First Class. He was killed in Action on February 2, 1968 in the Binh Long Province of South Vietnam.

His name is honored in Panel 36E, Line 72 in The Wall of Names of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

He was 21 years old.

Joel, you were one of the brave that answered the call. You honored us by your service and sacrifice. We now honor you each time we stand and sing the words “THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE”. Rest in Peace and Honor Joel.

Dear PFC Joel Gonzalez-Velez,
I hope your photo is put here because this wall of faces needs yours. Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Epiphany. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
