I Remember Your Sacrifice

Joel Humberto González Vélez was the son of Crescenciano González and María Josefa Vélez from San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. He was drafted to the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He started his military tour on October 10, 1967 during the Vietnam War in Company B, 1st Battallion, 26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division of the United States Army. He was a Private First Class. He was killed in Action on February 2, 1968 in the Binh Long Province of South Vietnam.

His name is honored in Panel 36E, Line 72 in The Wall of Names of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

He was 21 years old.

Peace with Honor

Joel, you were one of the brave that answered the call. You honored us by your service and sacrifice. We now honor you each time we stand and sing the words “THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE”. Rest in Peace and Honor Joel.
