BRUCE BADGER- REMEMBERED IN DANVILLE VERMONT
Bruce Badger grew up in northern Vermont in the town of Danville. He graduated from Danville High School in 1964. He played soccer, basketball and baseball all 4 years for the Danville Indians. Bruce also worked at the Summit House on the top of Mt Washington, operating a cog railway.
Louis Legendre Lessard reminisced about Bruce- He was a quiet man who loved the outdoors and hiking. He died in active combat in the Vietnam War on April 2, 1968. He was one of eight soldiers in an assault vehicle that was blown up when it ran over a land mine. Seven of the eight were killed. He is buried in the family lot in the Danville Cemetery. On October 22, 1983, the five miles of town road from Danville to North Danville were renamed the Bruce Badger Memorial Highway. At the naming over 60 people attended including all of Bruce’s immediate family.
Thanks for the graduation picture and story goes to Patty and John of the Danville Historical Society.
