honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

To my cousin, long time since

I remember the day I was told that you had died. I was 10 and started crying. I understood what had happened but not why. As time went on my rememberance of you faded. I was young and life went on. I am now much older and my own mortality is coming into question. I never forget the cousin who treated me so well every time we were together. The last time you were on leave. You had just bought a little sports car and took me for a ride. I have never truly forgotten you as you were always in my heart. Seeing your name on the wall brought back all the memories. Rest in peace. I miss you and love you.

Thank You

Dear Cap Herbert Glazer,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Commander. On Sunday, I went passed Kenisco Cemetery, sad. Merry Christmas. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Rest In Peace Captain

I was a replacement and had arrived a day or two before your death. There were about 12 - 15 of us and you welcomed us to the Company and said that your job was to see that we all got home safely. A night or two later we were in a rice paddy and you were killed by enemy fire. It was a terrible night and we were not told of your death until day light. You were respected by your troops. God Bless You!

Being with you

Being with you the last few moments of your life has always comforted me though the 49 years since your death..Having talked to your RTO and to you I was able to put together the chain of events that occurred that fatal. I remember you laying on that stretcher face down. You looked at me and said "Saucier!, are you alright?" I told you why I had been brought in on the same chopper. You just smiled and told me you were glad I was aright and hoped I got better. You were loved and respected by all your men Sir.
