A Great Teacher

Mr. Backhaus was a student teacher at Carter Lake Iowa
Elementary School when I was in 8th grade.
He was fun and refreshing and especially handsome as
many of his former female students can testify.
He has been on my mind lately and I became
an 8th grade teacher who reflects on those who
had an impact on me choosing my career.
Mr. Backhaus was awesome and the education world is truly cheated
by his early departure. Rest in Peace

A Nice Man I Met

Steve did practicing teaching in Carter Lake Iowa in
the spring of 67 or 68. I knew him for only those
6 weeks and he made a lasting impression. We had both
gone to Wayne State. He was just a very nice guy. John
Tiedeman thanks Steve.
