Never Forgotten

Mr Girod, I did not know you. But my dad, Benjamin Bucceri Jr, served beside you and was there when you lost your life. Rest assured you will never be forgotten. I am traveling to Vietnam in the coming weeks and I will say a prayer for you and your family. Did your mother receive the watch? I hope so. Thank you for all you gave.

Always Remembered

I recently found VA papers of my father, Benjamin Bucceri Jr after he passed. My dad had described the attack that night in detail. In his written account, he spoke highly of Mr. Girod. He said he spoke with him the afternoon before the attack, and said he was getting ready to send his mother a watch. My dad said while he was friendly with other marines, Mr Girod stood out and, as my dad described in his words, "a great marine" and an "all-around good guy". After all these years Mr Girod, you are still remembered.

A Fellow Artillery Marine

I served with John in Viet Nam. He was on my gun crew. I was wounded the night John was killed. We were medevac'd on the same helicopter. I sat on the edge of his stretcher hoping he was OK. I couldn't believe it when they told me he was dead. He was a good man and Marine. Semper Fi, John I still think about you and the others from our gun who lost their lives. R.I.P. see you up there.
