Remembering An American Hero
Dear SSGT John Brown Gibson Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

My Wish
I never knew you, but you live on in the pictures and words of my mother and her family. The love mom's family felt for you is overwhelming and you are missed very much. My only wish is that I could see and touch you.

I Remember You
Not too long ago, my son asked about you and I realized that I'd done you a disservice in not sharing what I remember in our all-too-short time together. I'm sorry for that and have shared with him your medals and ribbons that I received after you died. That conversation revived murky memories, but shaky though they were, I know they were good because I felt happy thinking about them. Sometimes I feel as if your spirit is beside me, watching over me. It makes me feel safe and warm. Thanks for always giving me that comfort. I love you, Dad.
