honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You were born one week after me. I am now 73 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

We never met... but we share the love of a special woman
Dear Gene, You were my Mom Diane's first and great love. She was devastated when she lost you, her young husband, in that awful war. I want you to know she went on to have a good life. She got married and had 2 children, me and my brother. My Dad is a Vietnam Vet like you. (I think that drew her to him... that common link) Mom stayed a part of the Fussey family after your death. I grew up knowing your parents, Ida & Gerald, as my grandparents... your siblings and their children as my aunts, uncles and cousins. I always count myself blessed to have the Fusseys as my amazing "bonus" grandparents. I feel as if I know you on some level, from all of the stories I've heard about you throughout the years from Mom and your family. I know you were a remarkable young man. Your cousin Kim married my Mom's sister Rita, so there is that connection too. Your family all love you and hold you close in their hearts. There was never a visit to the farm over the years that passed without a story about Gene. I'm so sorry you lost your life in service of our country. I'm sure if you had survived the war you and my Mom would have stayed married... but then I would not be here. The strange twists of fates that happen cannot be explained I suppose. Just letting you know your wife Diane loved you very much. She's a strong woman that I am honored to be told I resemble very much. Thank you for your service fine sir.

Thank You
Dear Sp4 Gene Fussey,
Thank you for your service as an Infantry Direct Fire Crewman with the 1st Cavalry. Your 49th anniversary just passed, sad. Happy Halloween. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
