honoring you...

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Carl Funkhouser,
Thank you for your service as an Armor Crewman. . It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

You're still my best Childhood Friend & Brother.

We met some time at the end of the 6th grade at Valley Grove Grade school,1956.

I also remember the last day we were together. Sometime around 06-1966
At least the important things. I remember asking why? Why return for a second tower? Honestly I was shocked and really stunned by your answer.
Your answer was "If go maybe someone like you with a family and son to take care of will not have to go."

If you new Carl you will understand why it was such a shock. a man I hadn't seen in over 6 years had grown up and changed right before my eyes.

If you didn't personally know him, I'll never be able to put it into words.

Carl and I were like brothers, at least that's how he made me feel. I could wright a book on the things we did, got into trouble with.

I road my first Motorcycle, a 125 Harley Hummer Carl bought with Hay baling money. Oh the free feeling that Bike gave us.

I miss you. Yet I see you in many Vets I am friends with. Frank, my biological brother returned, but not the same. I miss him also.

I'm planning a bike trip to see you soon, with that boy you met that last day we were together, 50 years ago.

I'm not good at this, Carl, but I just had to try to say good bye. That's all.
