50 year reunion

John, it is the 50th. year since our graduation from Archbishop Carroll. I have traced your name several times from the wall. I wish all of my brothers & sisters that served in Vietnam came home healthy, both physically & mentally. Ask Jesus to forgive me and mine.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC John William Avelleyra, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Hi John - Just Mary Margaret checking ing

Another Memorial Day weekend is upon us and you are in my thoughts. I was listening to Simon and Garfunkel's 'He was my Brother' the other day. The words really hit hard. Thank you brother, for your sacrifice so that all brothers could be free. I love you and look forward to the day we meet again. M&M
