IRA MELTON FRANKLIN JR
I served in vietnam with sargent Franklin. We talk about alot of things but I will always remember or last conversation. I was praying in my fox hole and he came along and asked me what I was doing and I told him. Then I asked him how many days he had left, he said he only had seven days left in country and also was leaving the marine corps. I said why haven't they got you out of the bush. Well we were short men because we had suffered many dead andd wounded. But then he took a picture out of his wallet and showed me his lovely wife and baby daughter. It hurts me to talk about this but I will always remember Franklin. The next day he was wounded by incoming mortar and died the following days. He said that he loved his family very much. God Bless you Ira and I alway thing of you and say a pray. Your Friend Juan R Garza
