Enter and Die

'Nearly half an hour later, the word comes back that Eddie Foster was killed. A dead silence hangs in the air after we learn of Eddie's death. Minutes before, the situation was chaotic, noisy, and tense because of the uncertainty of the outcome. Now a quiet, calm, and serene atmosphere pervades as the platoon gives final respect to Eddie. My heart sank in my chest when I learned the horrible news. It's almost impossible for me to comprehend what I heard. Only a short time earlier, Eddie was full of life; and if anybody deserved to survive this war, it was he. I take time to pray for Eddie and ask God to welcome this fine young man into his kingdom. God bless Eddie Foster.' Enter and Die by James W. Milliken, page 41.

Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial at Santa Maria High School

PFC Eddie D. Foster and ten other Santa Maria High School graduates have been memorialized in a display case located in the administration building at Santa Maria High School in Santa Maria, CA. Their images were placed there decades ago and have recently been moved to a main corridor in a new exhibit. This exhibit includes rubbings of their names from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. in addition to the names of 18 others who lost their lives in Vietnam. This newly located display will remind students, staff, and other passersby each day of the tremendous sacrifice these young men made for their country.
