Dan in Hawaii 1967-68
I have photos of Dan's friends taken in Hawaii in the 1967 or early 1968. I do not know their names but can send copies if someone would contact me.

DANNY BOY
I have thought of Dan practically every day of my life since 1968. We were stationed together at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for training. Our bunks were side-by-side. I knew him and thought of him like my brother. In Hawaii we went to the beach, surfed, ate in Waikiki and got drunk together. We were best friends. He was a wonderful man and a priceless friend. He was so funny we kept each other in stitches very often. On Thanksgiving 1967 we sat at the same table in the mess hall and had dinner. It was a little weird for us not being home, but the whole company was together and that was our family at that time. We were in the 11th Bde. 4th of the 21. We went to VN together. After several months we were transferred to separate units. I never saw Dan again except in my memories. I'm now 67, but in my mind he is still 21. I will Miss him always.

My dad's friend and fellow solider
My father served with Daniel in Vietnam in 1969. My dad was wounded and upon being released from a field hospital learned that Daniel had been killed. It affected him deeply for the rest of his life, as did his entire experience in Vietnam. My dad rarely spoke of his time in the war and recently passed away. We recently found some papers of my dad's in which he described Daniel as his "good buddy" as well as a rubbing of Daniel's name from the Vietnam Memorial Wall and a document entitled Etched in Stone with basic details about Daniel. Even though I never met any of the men my dad served with, my heart goes out to all of them and their families.
