Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL David Oliver Auen, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Missed but always remembered
David...old school mate....I remember our youth together and always respected you as a younger brother and since Vietnam took you, you are truly a brother. I made it home and have honored your memory and service all these years. The Blairsville memorial of the 4 GI's is now at The Veterans Circle, you are with Dunlap, Laughlin and Waddle. We honored you 4 GI's on August 2008 when we hosted the "Moving Wall". Every Memorial Day our Military Service Group conducts a service at the Vietnam Vets Memorial. May God hold you in His arms till we meet again. We shall know as we are known !
