Operation Buffalo: USMC Fight for the DMZ by Keith W. Nolan

Operation Buffalo: USMC Fight for the DMZ by Keith W. Nolan captures the courage, fear, sacrifice and pain of those brave Marines who fought and died during Operation Buffalo (July 2-15, 1967). The book vividly chronicles the efforts of the U.S. Marines to defend the DMZ in 1967, describing the hardships of these undersupplied troops as they faced attacks from the North Vietnamese. The book recounts the loss of many individual Marines by soldiers who were present at the battle, providing a graphic account of the sacrifice that took place during those two tragic weeks in July 1967.

El Cajon Valley High School Salutes you

From El Cajon Valley High School, we are writing in remembrance of Paul Glenn Jr. Forbes. An alumni of Madison High School in San Diego CA. Paul was a member of the 1st Battalion 9th Marines along with an organization called The Walking Dead. Born January 19th, 1947 and died of burns July 2nd, 1967 at a young age of just 20 years old, 2 years out of high school and a happy newlywed. He shared a great love of football and wrestling alongside his twin brother Mike Forbes. His loved ones say he was a team player, an American athlete, and was never seen to be involved in politics or one to join the marines, but are very proud of him. All respects to his wife and her sad loss in 1967. We will miss and appreciate your duty to protect our country. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Emily & Janella
