Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Thomas Francis Flahive, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Tommy: A great guy
Tom, I think of you often. I can't believe how you died in Nam, by drowning. I remember you were a terrific swimmer and on the swimming team at Neumann. I want you to know I looked you up on the wall and when I think about it, I'll say a prayer for you. You died a long time ago and fortunately I made it back. I could have been like you if I didn't listen to my mentor and dear friend, John Francis Campbell. I wanted to join the Marines but he convinced me to join the Navy. It was a good decision but many times I feel that I didn't do enough when others, like you my friend, made the ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and hope you are having a wild and crazy time in heaven as you did at Neumann. RIP my friend, the Brink (the class of '64).
