Ground Casualty
LCPL John F. Ashman was a tank crewman serving with B Company, 1st Tank Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On December 23, 1965, LCPL Ashman was killed when he was hit by a burst of machine gun fire from a Marine weapon that was discharged accidently while being cleaned.
