Thank You

Dear Sp4 Daniel Fell,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Another national holiday is coming, and we honor you this Labor Day. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Another fabulous soul - Dan's wife

I became the company clerk for A, 3/21 some time after Dan was shot by accident, shortly before his DEROS date. A letter from his wife arrived one day, addressed via the C/O to the soldier who had killed Dan. He read the letter out loud, which expressed compassion and forgiveness. She gently expressed the hope that the letter would get to the soldier who had killed her husband, so that he could get on with his life and not be overwhelmed with guilt and grief. The room went quiet after the C/O finished, and when we could speak again, we all agreed that Dan's wife was one of the finest women who have ever lived.

P.S. to Ron Lhamon: You and I were assigned to A Co, along with Mark Matter, whose name appears elsewhere on the wall. Hope you recovered well and have full use of your hands these days.
